FAQs

  • Do you have a cancellation policy?

Here at FPS, we want to give each student as much individual attention and guidance during lessons as possible, so we keep our class sizes small. For this reason, we have a 16-hour cancellation policy to allow enough time for other students who might be on the waiting list chance to get on the class.

  • What should I wear for my first pole lesson?

A lot of moves rely heavily on skin-to-pole contact to keep you in the air, so for your first pole class, we recommend that you arrive in warm clothes to warm up in, with shorts and a T-shirt/sports bra underneath.

  • I don't want to take my clothes off. Does that mean I can't do pole?

You don't have to take your clothes off if you don't want to. As you progress to more advanced moves, sticking to the pole will become more important, but if you don't want to get your skin out, you can buy grippy leggings from lots of pole dance clothing brands (a quick Internet search for 'pole leggings' will give you plenty of options to choose from).

  • What should I wear for my first aerial class?

For aerial, we recommend wearing leggings and a T-shirt to cover your legs and midriff. Avoid anything loose fitting that could get tangled in the equipment, this includes jewellery and tying back long hair. Cotton fabric leggings are best to wear for aerial silks, as shiny lycra can be quite slippery and can make you work twice as hard for your grip! Also, try to avoid clothing with zips, as your skin won't thank you if it's pressed into it, and our silks won't thank you when they have rips in them!

  • I'm not strong enough for pole or aerial, should I come when I'm a bit fitter?

Pole and aerial disciplines do take strength, but everyone is a beginner at some point, and the best way to build this strength is by doing it. It might be hard at first, but we promise you this will improve quickly and you'll surprise yourself with the amount that you can actually do when you first start!

  • Is there an age/height/weight limit?

Absolutely not! We have students of all ages, shapes, and sizes at FPS. We have a wonderful community of members and instructors who inspire us everyday with their support and encouragement towards everyone in the room.

  • Are your classes women-only?

We invite everyone who wants to train at FPS Fitness to attend classes, regardless of their gender. If you are looking for a female-only class, try Feminine Floor Work on Wednesday nights.

  • How much do classes cost?

All new students can take advantage of the First Four Classes For £22 introductory offer. After this time, Pole and Aerial classes cost £11 per class and Dance and Fitness classes cost £8 per class pay-as-you-go. We also have a range of monthly memberships available, which we recommend if you are looking to attend three or more classes a week.

  • Is it safe?

We'd be lying to you if we told you that pole and aerial couldn't be dangerous at times, but with the correct guidance and equipment, it's just as safe as any other sport or fitness activity. Our instructors have years of experience practising, teaching, and even performing pole and aerial, so you can be sure that you're in safe hands. Plus, there'll always be crash mat there to catch you if you fall!

  • How do I book a class?

We use Wellness Living to host and book all of our classes. You can book right here on our website, but the quickest way to book a class is with the FREE Wellness Living Achieve mobile app. Here you'll find our full schedule and prices, and be able to book onto any of our classes. If you are a new student, you will need to create an account at www.wellnessliving.com/signup/fpsfitness first.

  • How can I pay?

As we maintain a maximum of two people per piece of equipment, all class bookings are made online and paid for in advance. To book you first class, go to www.wellnessliving.com/rs/schedule/fpsfitness

  • Do you have parking?

We have spaces outside the front of our venue, but we do share this parking with other businesses/homes on site. Additionally, we have on street parking that's valid for 2 hours and within a 2 minute walking distance. We have multiple classes on in the evenings, so we recommend arriving early to make sure parking doesn't make you late for your class!

  • Can I just come and watch?

Unfortunately, we don't allow spectators in classes. People attend FPS for a variety of reasons, sometimes to build their confidence and self-esteem, so we want to avoid anyone feeling watched in classes. The best way to experience class is to come and try it for yourself!

  • Do you have classes for children?

Yes! Youth and Teen classes start for 7 years old. To find out more, check out the Youth and Teen Classes page.
